Privacy Policy
How we collect, use and protect your personal information.
Last updated: 4 November 2026
1. Who we are
Bluebell Childcare Recruitment Ltd (“Bluebell”, “we”, “us” or “our”) is a specialist childcare recruitment agency. We are a company registered in England & Wales under company number 17330199, with our registered office at Suite 7b Portmill House, Portmill Lane, Hitchin, Hertfordshire, SG5 1DJ.
For the purposes of UK data protection law (the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018), Bluebell is the “data controller” for the personal information described in this policy.
If you have any questions about this policy or how we handle your data, contact us at info@bluebellchildcarerecruitment.co.uk or on 0207 131 9067.
2. The information we collect
Depending on your relationship with us, we may collect:
If you are a candidate or applicant
- Your name, contact details, date of birth and address;
- Your CV, employment history, qualifications and training;
- References and information from referees;
- Right-to-work documentation and identity verification;
- DBS / criminal record information and safeguarding suitability information;
- Where relevant to a temporary placement, payroll and bank details.
If you are a nursery or client
- The names, roles and contact details of your staff we deal with, and details of your recruitment requirements.
If you use our website
- Information you submit through our contact form or jobs board (including uploaded CVs), and limited technical and usage data (see “Cookies” below).
3. How we collect your information
We collect information directly from you (for example when you apply through our jobs board, email or call us), from referees you nominate, from job boards and professional networks, and automatically through our website.
4. How we use your information and our lawful basis
- Providing recruitment services — matching candidates to roles and introducing candidates to nurseries (our legitimate interests, and to take steps towards a contract).
- Safeguarding and vetting — carrying out DBS checks, reference checks and suitability assessments (to comply with our legal obligations and in the substantial public interest of safeguarding children).
- Marketing — where you have given consent, to send you relevant vacancies and updates. You can withdraw consent at any time.
- Legal and regulatory compliance — to meet our obligations and keep appropriate records.
5. Special category and criminal records data
Because we recruit for roles working with children, we necessarily process safeguarding information and criminal records (DBS) information, and sometimes health information relevant to a role. We only process this where the law allows — principally for safeguarding and to comply with our legal obligations — and we apply appropriate safeguards to keep it secure.
6. Who we share your information with
We may share your information with:
- Prospective employers (nurseries), where you have agreed to be put forward for a role;
- DBS and background-check providers and referees;
- Our service providers who help us run our business — including our jobs board platform, email providers (such as Microsoft 365 and SendGrid) and IT suppliers — who act on our instructions;
- Professional advisers, and regulatory or law-enforcement bodies where we are required to do so by law.
We never sell your personal information.
7. International transfers
We primarily store and process your information in the UK. Where a service provider processes data outside the UK, we ensure an appropriate safeguard is in place (such as a UK ‘adequacy’ decision or standard contractual clauses).
8. How long we keep your information
We keep your information only for as long as necessary for the purposes set out above. For candidates, we generally retain your details for up to 2 years from our last meaningful contact, unless you ask us to remove it sooner or we are required to keep it longer by law. Client records are kept for the duration of our relationship and for a reasonable period afterwards.
9. Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to access your information; to have it corrected or erased; to restrict or object to its processing; to data portability; and to withdraw consent where we rely on it. To exercise any of these rights, email info@bluebellchildcarerecruitment.co.uk.
If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk — though we’d appreciate the chance to put things right first.
10. Cookies
Our website uses only essential cookies needed for it to function, together with the embedded jobs board which is provided through a third-party platform. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.
11. Keeping your information secure
We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your information against loss, misuse and unauthorised access, and we limit access to those who need it.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with a revised “last updated” date.
